How does the procedure work?
The procedure is performed in the office under local anesthesia with oral premedication. Through 3 tiny 2 mm incisions, a small catheter is inserted under the skin where laser energy is delivered throughout the tissues to melt the fat and heat the undersurface of the skin to stimulate collagen production which improves skin elasticity, thickness and texture. Using a separate liposuction cannula, the unwanted melted fat is easily removed from under the chin and along areas of the jawline to better define the jawline and remove excess fat from under the chin/neck area. On occasion, temporary sutures can be placed to provide support/lift of the loose neck muscles.
What does the procedure feel like?
After the treated area is given local anesthesia, you will experience a light pressure during the procedure and some soreness for a couple of days afterwards. You may return back to work in a couple of days and back to the gym in about 7-10 days.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes about one hour and is performed under local anesthesia with oral premedication. You will need a driver to take you home after the procedure.
What are the risks and how long does it last?
There is minimal to no scar since only three tiny 2mm incisions are made. There will be temporary swelling, bruising and numbness that will last up to about one week. If the suture suspension technique is utilized, there will be three <2 cm incisions made in order to place the muscle suspension sutures.
