 Procedure:

 A full buttock lift typically involves small incisions made at the top of the buttocks, and sometimes in the hips and groin area.  Excess fat and skin is removed, and the remainder is re-sculpted and pulled taut for a smoother, more youthful appearance.  Typical buttock lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, lasting three to six hours. However, under some instances, your surgeon may recommend that you stay overnight.   

Gluteoplasty using fat injections is also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift.  The procedure consists of taking fat from a donor site on the body and reusing the fat in the buttock.  The fat can be taken from the flanks, hips, or abdomen.  Fat from a donor site undergoes a purification process to remove any liquids to provide more concentrated fat for injecting the buttock.  After the purification process, the fat is then injected into the desired area.

Another form of gluteoplasty or buttock augmentation uses implants to enhance size and give the buttock a more aesthetically pleasing shape.  In a buttock augmentation, silicone implants are used to increase and shape the buttock.  The implants are solid or semi solid to mimic the buttock, gluteus, muscle. The two most common incision sites are the crease where the buttocks meets the thigh or in the crease between the buttock cheeks.

 

Recovery:

With a buttock lift or augmentation, patient should expect some swelling and bruising.  It may take several weeks before you feel completely back to normal with strenuous activities being avoided since it may take several months before the area completely heals.  A compression garment is worn for about three weeks after surgery to control swelling a facilitate the healing process.
