If the underside of your upper arms are sagging or appear loose and full due to excess skin and fat, an arm lift in Newark, Delaware at Advanced Plastic Surgery Center & Nouveau Cosmetic Center may be right for you. Medically referred to as brachioplasty, this procedure contours and sculpts the upper arms.

Arm Lift Candidates

Fluctuations in weight, growing older and even heredity can cause your upper arms to have a drooping, sagging appearance. Exercise may strengthen and improve the underlying muscle tone of the upper arm, but it cannot address excess skin that has lost elasticity.

Our surgeons can address these issues and provide a more youthful, natural appearance by improving the body’s contours with a brachioplasty.

Highlights

  • Reduces excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow
  • Reshapes your arms for smoother skin and contours
  • General anesthesia
  • Outpatient or overnight at hospital
  • 1-2 weeks off work
  • Moderately painful first 72 hrs
  • Return to exercise at 4 weeks

Procedure

During the arm lift procedure, an incision is made in the underside of the arm from the armpit area to the elbow. The location of the incision helps to make any post-surgical marks difficult to see once the area has fully healed.

The plastic surgeon removes the excess skin and fat, and then closes the incision to create a smooth, taut appearance. A small, thin drainage tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.

Under general anesthesia, an arm lift is an outpatient procedure, completed in two to four hours, however, in some instances, your surgeon may recommend that you stay overnight.

Often performed in conjunction with liposuction, an arm lift can reshape the upper part of the arm to provide a more comprehensive contour.

Arm Lift Recovery

The smoother, tighter contours that result from brachioplasty are apparent almost immediately following your procedure, although initial results will be somewhat obscured by swelling and bruising.

Patients should expect some pain and discomfort following arm lift surgery, but this can be managed with medications. In addition, your surgeon may recommend a special garment to be worn to assist with the healing process.

Patients are typically able to return to their normal routines several days to a week following the arm-contouring procedure. More strenuous activity such as exercise and heavy lifting will need to be avoided for longer so that the area has enough time to properly heal.

Arm Lift Results

Your new, shapely, and toned upper arm is dramatically improved in both appearance and feel. The results of arm lift surgery will be long-lasting, provided that you maintain a stable weight and general fitness. As your body ages, it is natural to lose some firmness, but most of your improvement should be relatively permanent.

Each arm lift procedure is personalized to address the specific issues with the upper arm in order to provide the patient with the best possible results. The cost of your arm lift in Newark will be based on a variety of factors like the techniques used and the extent of the work required.
